PhotoRejuvenation

What is PhotoRejuvenation?
PhotoRejuvenation is a series of Intense Pulsed Light Treatments that improve the appearance of Rosacea, flushing, sun damaged skin, age spots (brown spots), skin texture, and photo aging. PhotoRejuvenation can also improve mild acne scars, reduce large pores, correct dark circles around the eyes, and reduce fine lines What is treatment like? An intense light is applied in a series of gentle pulses over the treatment area. The light penetrates through the skin and is absorbed by the abnormally dilated vessels or pigmentation. The heat from the light impairs the vessel or lesion causing the body’s natural healing process to begin. The lesion will darken then flake off or be absorbed by the body.

Is there downtime associated with this treatment? (back to top)
The treatment is quick and requires no down time so you can resume your normal activities immediately.

IPL Hair Removal (back to top)

What is treatment like? (back to top)
Initially the area is cleansed and shaved before treatment. Using controlled flashes of light that penetrate the skin and are absorbed by the hair follicle the hair is destroyed. PhotoEpilation will not damage the surrounding skin but will destroy the potential for hair regrowth. IPL is an effective approach to eliminated unwanted hair. Unlike many other treatment options, PhotoEpilation leaves your skin looking and feeling smoother and softer.

Is treatment painful?
The procedure is tolerated well by most. In some instances a topical anesthetic can be used for added comfort.

Can large areas be treated? (back to top)
This unique technology has a large spot size allowing areas such as the back, shoulders, and legs to be treated quickly and smaller areas like the lip, chin, and beard to be treated in minutes.
Who are candidates for the treatment?
IPL can be safely performed on men, women, and children. IPL treatments can be customized for each individual according to their hair color, texture, and body location. Treatment is effective on all skin types and hair colors.

How many treatments are necessary? (back to top)
Since hair grows in cycles more than one treatment will be necessary. During your consultation you will be advised as to the approximate number of treatments you will need.

Yag Laser Vein Treatment (back to top)

Who are candidates for treatment?
Men and women of all skin types are candidates for vein treatment. Patients who are on certain medications such as blood thinners are generally not candidates for the treatment.

How many treatments are required? (back to top)
The number of treatments necessary depends on the size of the vein and your body’s natural ability to heal. In your consultation you will be given an estimate of the number of treatments required for optimal results

What does treatment involve?
Lasers can be safely used for a variety of cosmetic noninvasive treatments including correcting leg veins, as well as veins visible on the face, neck, and chest. Specifically designed for treating spider veins and reticular veins the heat of the Yag laser damages the walls of the veins. The body then begins its natural healing process causing the veins to shrink and become less visible or disappear completely. Using the YAG laser allows for pulsed and continuous modes to be used and for the treatment to be customized for virtually every small vein disorder.

Is there any downtime associated with the treatment? (back to top)
Laser leg vein therapy is also a no down time procedure so you can return to your regular activities immediately. Pain is very mild and you might experience some slight swelling and bruising that will subside quickly.

Photofacial +/- Levulan (back to top)

What is Photofacial?
PhotoFacial is a series of Intense Pulsed Light treatments that improve the appearance of Rosacea, sun damage, age spots, and the skin’s texture. The treatment can also improve acne scars, reduce pore size, correct dark circles under the eyes, and reduce fine lines.

How does the treatment work? (back to top)
After the treatment area is thoroughly cleansed, a series of gentle pulses of light penetrate through the skin and are absorbed by the abnormally dilated vessels and pigmentation. The heat from the light damages or impairs the intended target. Then, the body’s normal healing process takes over and removes the treated target.

What is Levulan?
Levulan is a topical photosensitizing agent, which is activated with the correct wavelength of light. It can be used to augment the effects of Photofacials. This medication is applied to the skin prior to the IPL treatment and results in slightly more redness then a typical Photofacial.

How many treatments will I need? (back to top)
A series of three to five treatments is recommended for optimal results. Some patients see significant results in as few as one or two treatments.

Is there any downtime associated with the procedure?
The procedure involves little or no “down time” so you can resume your normal activities immediately. You may have some redness following the treatment but it will subside quickly and can be covered with makeup immediately. Levulan leaves the skin photosensitized for several days and requires increased sunavoidance measures during this time.

Facial Telengiectasia (back to top)

What does a Facial Telengiectasia treatment do?
Intense pulsed light (IPL) technology has evolved to provide non-invasive, no down time treatments for certain skin conditions including facial telengiectasia also known as facial veins. IPL skin therapy treatments provide a safe and effective means of achieving a more youthful rejuvenated appearance by removing the appearance of facial veins.

What is treatment like? (back to top)
The IPL’s intense light passes through the outermost layers of skin to a targeted vascular lesion. Without damaging the surrounding skin the light is absorbed by the lesion or dilated capillary. The light energy is converted to heat, which initiates the elimination and healing of the lesion. The treated lesion gradually fades or diminishes. IPL therapy can be utilized for small facial areas or the entire face. Using a chilled tip hand piece, the IPL quickly and comfortably delivers gentle light pulses to the treatment site rejuvenating your skin.

What results can I expect? (back to top)
You many need multiple treatments depending on the size of the veins. You will have some minor redness following the procedure but that will subside quickly. Your consultant can determine the approximate number of treatments you will need to achieve the results you want.
